When I started my first blog, bringingbackthehousewife.com I was able to bring in 14,329 users after my first-month blogging using only Pinterest to drive traffic! I would call that a success. You can have the same success if you follow these 5 tips!
Pinterest Marketing Tips #1: Regularly Provide Fresh, Relevant Content
Pinterest has said time and time again that they love fresh, relevant content!
They said it directly on their Pinterest Content Tips:
Prioritize high-quality content:
Content relevancy matters more than anything else on Pinterest. Focus your energy on creating great content that’s tailored to your audience’s interests and needs.
If I have learned anything on my blogging journey it is that if Pinterest says to do it. Then do it! Enough said.
Pinterest Marketing Tips #2: Do Keyword Research
Pinterest makes it incredibly easy for content creators to do keyword research. To do keyword research for Pinterest follow these steps:
- Type in a possible topic i.e. baby sleep
- Pinterest will automatically fill in suggested searches in the drop-down bar. These are common search items that users search for all the time! Take note of those search options
- Click on one of the options from the drop-down menu. You will now see colorful tiles spread across the top of the page. These are also related searches that real users search for!
- Write down a few of these keywords and optimize your post and Pinterest description with those keywords in mind.
Note: It is much better to do this keyword research before you write a post rather than after. This will ensure that you can SEO your post from the beginning rather than trying to catch up after the fact.
Beginner Blogger Tip
Be sure to consistently add fresh new content! Pinterest loves seeing engagement and so it is important that you are Pinning as often as you can.

Pinterest Marketing Tips #3: Images Matter
No matter what program you use to design your pins there are a few things you should keep in mind.
- Pins should be vertical and around 735pxX1102px (2:3 ratio). This gives your pin its best chance at standing out on Pinterest while not risking the chance that it will get cut off. Canva automatically sizes Pinterest Pins using this exact dimension. I try not to vary too much from this size.
- Pins should be easy to read! Watch out for scripted font and difficult to read colors!
- Use high-quality images! Dark and out of focus pictures do not do well on a visual board like Pinterest. For free stock photography check out Pexels.com, Pixabay.com, and Unsplash.com
- Don’t forget to include your website name somewhere on the pin
- Use branded colors and fonts as much as possible. This provides brand recognition for your website and encourages users to click on your pins more often.
Pinterest Marketing Tips #4: Bookmark Pinterest Creative Best Practices AND check back regularly!
Bookmark Pinterest Creative Best Practices AND check back regularly!
This is the best advice I could give you. There are tons of people out there that claim to be Pinterest experts and want to sell you on their goods or services (Myself included!) but you also need to be knowledgeable on what Pinterest wants and recommends for its content creators. I highly suggest bookmarking this page and checking back on it regularly. You can read Pinterest’s Creative Best Practices Here.
Pinterest Marketing Tips #5: Uplevel Your Pinterest Marketing
