I used Pinterest to drive over 14k users to my blog after blogging for only 1 month! Once I started marketing my blog on Pinterest using these strategies my traffic shot up!
First off, what is social media marketing?
Social Media Marketing is a way of using social media as a means to drive organic traffic to your blog. You’ve heard me say it before, but I will say it again. Simply hitting publish on your blog post is not going to bring anyone to your blog. The internet is HUGE! The chances of someone stumbling on your brand new blog post on your brand new blog is pretty minimal.
But don’t worry! You just need to market your blog!
This is easier than you think! You don’t need a degree in marketing to increase blog traffic! All you need is a little effort and a social media strategy!
How do I use social media marketing?
First, you need to decide which social media channel is right for you. For most people the channel to start with is Pinterest! Pinterest is free and drives tons of traffic to all sorts of blogs!
You might be wondering about Instagram…..
For most people, Instagram is not the easiest way to drive traffic to a blog simply because you can’t put clickable links in your IG photos.
If you are already a social media influencer on Instagram you can definitely use Instagram to drive traffic to your blog! You have a devoted audience and also the swipe up feature.
But for the rest of us non-influencers start with Pinterest. For now.

So, what can Pinterest do for my blog?
Pinterest has over 250 million active users!
Pinterest users commonly use Pinterest to help plan purchases and get shopping ideas.
Over 2 million Pinterest users save shopping pins daily!
More than 80% of Pinterest users are women! Millennials use Pinterest as much as Instagram!
40% of Pinterest users have household incomes of more than $100K!
So what does this mean for your blog?
In a nutshell, that means that there is untold potential for finding new readers for your blog from Pinterest! People go on Pinterest every day looking for things to buy and ways to spend their money! It is all kinds of smart for you to use this to your advantage!
Also important to note: Did you know that the average Pinterest pin has a life of 7 months! To put that in perspective the average tweet life is 7 MINUTES and the average Facebook post life is 30 MINUTES. We are comparing MONTHS to MINUTES ladies and gentleman!
What does this mean for you?
Pins last a long time on Pinterest. That means that the time you spend developing pins is time extremely well spent!

We have been where you are! We got married, overspent, had a baby, and felt like we were drowning in student loan debt, bills, and every day expenses. Starting our first blog changed everything! With my little mommy blog, I was bringing in over 1k a month in less than a year with pretty minimal effort and maintenance (after I got the blog off the ground that is!)
That could be you too! If you have a few extra hours to spare each week think about what that extra income can do for you! And if you work really hard you can turn blogging from a side hustle into a full-time gig! It's possible!
So stop dreaming and start doing!
